The Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board (PSSSB) has reopened the application window for the recruitment of Excise and Taxation Inspectors under Advertisement No. 01/2026. Candidates who missed the earlier deadline now have another opportunity to apply, with the revised last date set as April 9, 2026. The recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 197 vacancies, and applications must be submitted online through the official website.The reopening is expected to benefit a large pool of aspirants seeking Group C government jobs in Punjab, particularly graduates looking for roles in taxation and excise administration.
PSSSB application process and eligibility criteria
Interested candidates can apply by visiting the official PSSSB website and completing the registration process. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university. Selection process and exam pattern
The selection process consists of a written examination followed by document verification. The written test will be conducted in two parts. Part A will assess Punjabi language proficiency and is qualifying in nature, requiring candidates to secure a minimum of 50% marks.Part B will determine merit and include subject-related questions. The final merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in Part B, and negative marking is expected to apply.
Salary and job profile
Selected candidates will be appointed as Excise and Taxation Inspectors under the Punjab government. The pay scale ranges from ₹10,300 to ₹34,800, along with a grade pay of ₹4,200 and applicable allowances.The role involves monitoring taxation compliance, preventing excise duty evasion, and assisting in revenue collection for the state.
